Black Eyed Peas ‘Boom Boom Pow’ Free Music Video

The Black Eyed Peas are a hip-hop, rap and dance orientated group based in Los Angeles, America. The group is made up of four members, Will.i.am, Apl.de.ap, Taboo and Fergie. Since they burst on to the international music scene in 2003 with their début album ‘Elephunk’, the pop group has sold an astonishing 18 million albums and 9 million single releases worldwide.

The Black Eyed Peas originally formed in 1998 and comprised of the three male members and the additional vocals of a young singer called Kim Hill. Their first album was critically acclaimed and sold 1.2 million copies, also spawning the underground hit ‘Joints and Jams’ which appeared on a few movie soundtracks. Following Hill's departure from the band, they looked for a female front singer, even asking Nicole Sherzinger (now lead in The Pussycat Dolls) to join the group. However she declined but introduced Stacey ‘Fergie’ Ferguson to Will.i.am.

Their first album as a group was ‘Elephunk’ which went Gold and Platinum across the globe, reaching high album chart positions in the UK and USA. ‘Elephunk’ also spawned several hit singles, including ‘Where is the Love?’ featuring Justin Timberlake which went to the top 10 of the Billboard 100 and also hit the number 1 spot in the UK, becoming the biggest selling single of 2003. Their second single, ‘Shut Up’ saw a funkier dance sound which is more trademark to the Black Eyed Peas than the début single which had a strong political and social message. Their third single, ‘Hey Mama’ was significantly restyled from its Elephunk version but did incredibly well in the charts, scoring the Black Eyed Peas another top 10 hit across the globe.

Their second album, ‘Monkey Business’, sealed their fate as a top dance, hip-hop and pop group as hits such as ‘Don't Phunk With My Heart’, ‘Don't Lie’ and ‘My Humps’ were all massive chart toppers and dance floor fillers. Their newest album ‘The E.N.D’ has proved similarly successful so far with the same dance feel and fantastic songs but with maturity which has come from their solo projects.

‘The E.N.D’ is short for Energy Never Dies, but has been interpreted by some fans as signalling the end of the Black Eyed Peas who have recently been involved in solo projects. However the album does not signal any kind of end as it is high energy and futuristic with the song style moving away from funk and hip hop to a more electro urban pop feel. The first single from the album ‘Boom Boom Pow’ is fairly representative of the rest of the album’s music style and has been a massive hit worldwide, scoring number 1s in both the US and UK charts. The second single from the album, ‘I Gotta Feeling’ similarly looks set for success as it has a throbbing beat courtesy of David Guetta and a fantastic clubbing message and feel about it. Although the album may be The E.N.D., somehow it seems as if it is only the beginning for the Black Eyed Peas.
