Calvin Harris 'I'm Not Alone' - Free Music Video

Over the last few years Calvin Harris's blend of electro beats, catchy lyrics and unique style has meant that only two years after being signed, he has achieved global recognition. Born in 1984, Calvin Harris grew up in Dumfries and spent a lot of time working various jobs to afford the equipment he needed to make it big and by anyone's definition he has definitely achieved his goal, with gigs all over the UK, Europe and even in Dubai on the agenda for the coming months. As a singer-songwriter and producer, his debut album, 'I Created Disco', was received well by music lovers and critics alike, especially clubbers and dance music fans. From his first album, he released five top 20 singles, including 'Vegas', 'The Girls', 'Merrymaking at My Place', 'Colours' and the now dance floor classic 'Acceptable in the 80s'. This first album really set the scene for Harris's career as his bright and innovative videos, unique music style and quirky personality really shone through the humdrum of the British music scene. Last year he reached the number one spot with another homegrown talent Dizzie Rascal, collaborating to create 'Dance wiv Me' which has become an international hit and a firm favourite on free music video hitlists.

His next studio album will be released at some point during 2009 and will feature the Dizzie Rascal collaboration as well as a new song, 'La, La, La, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah', which will be featured on upcoming Coke adverts in June. Perhaps most excitingly though, his UK number one single 'I'm Not Alone' will be included on the album. This, his newest song, is one of his more innovative pieces, with interesting lyrics, a difference in tempo and massive bassline; all ingredients for the perfect club classic. However, in true Calvin Harris style, the video is not what you would expect from a dance track.

The video begins with Harris's voice softly singing over a simple melody and shows a child pulling his sled through the snow. As the chorus draws nearer and the song gets more up-tempo, the scenes of the child are replaced by Harris in a white coat in a cellar in a castle. As the beat gets more intense a lot of girls start dancing around him and it becomes an almost Frankenstein like video, as he measures the different girls. Although a bizarre concept for a video, it really holds your attention and somehow works with the lyrics and the beat of the song. It is also true to character that Calvin Harris's video for 'I'm Not Alone' is completely unexpected. Although mainly wearing a white coat, Harris also shows off his diamante encrusted sunglasses, an item which has started a fashion trend for hipsters for Summer '09.
